“ALL MY FOUNTAINS” by CHRIS TOMLIN
~ Lyrics ~ |
This dry and desert land I tell myself, “Keep walking on” Hear something up ahead Water falling like a song An everlasting stream Your river carries me home Let it flow, let it flow A flood for my soul Open the heavens Come on, and rain down on us |
This song is a favorite worship song of mine that has helped bring my mind back to the inexhaustible Provider that God is. God supplies a constant stream of good and perfect gifts that sustains, satisfies, and empowers me. Like a bubbling spring that never runs dry, God is an endless well that always flows and runs over in my soul.
Just as the desert is transformed into a land full of vibrant life when the rain comes, the rain in my heart that comes from the Lord nourishes the arid longingness to know the peace and love that only our Maker can shower us with. That which invigorates my life, that which soothes my fever, that which quenches my barren wilderness, that which revives my lifeless corpse is the living water poured out from heaven; a water that is never susceptible to draught, never wanes or passes over, is never out of season; a water so cool and pure that one drop upon my parched lips assuages an immeasurable thirst. I long for the Lord as one who lives in a desolate place.
As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
Everything that I am finds its source in the overflowing wonder of God’s grace. There is no greater satisfaction than to be filled and experience the overflowing water from heaven. Everything that brings life to my soul comes from the Lord. He is the one that feeds the river running through me. Where can I find relief for my yearning and desire but in the One who created me.
Truly, Lord, all my fountains are in You!
