~ Lyrics ~
Spent today in a conversation
In the mirror face to face with
somebody less than perfect
I wouldn’t choose me first if
I was looking for a champion
In fact I’d understand if
You picked everyone before me
But that’s just not my story
True to who You are
You saw my heart, and made
Something out of nothing

I don’t need my name in lights
I’m famous in my Father’s eyes
Make no mistake
He knows my name
I’m not living for applause
I’m already so adored
It’s all His stage
He knows my name oh, oh,
He knows my name oh, oh

I’m not meant to just stay quiet
I’m meant to be a lion
I’ll roar beyond a song
With every moment that I’ve got

He calls me chosen, free forgiven, wanted, child of the King,
His forever, held in treasure…
I am loved

We are tempted to look at ourselves in the mirror and not see much in the reflection. The world tells our hearts that our imperfections make us undesirable. If we allow such lies get to us, we would continue to sink deeper in our disapproval and dislike of ourselves to the point where we would not even vote for ourselves in any category of life if it came down to it.

When our self worth is seen as a reflection of our accomplishments, our grades in school, our job or income, the approval of our family or friends, the size of our house or car, the clubs or organizations we belong to, or any other number of typical social identity markers that are meant to make us feel like our self-worth is wrapped in the stuff we do or own and not in our inherent worth as a child of God, we subject ourselves to the onslaught of public criticism that destroys every spec of our inherent value we have in the eyes of our Creator. The world pushes us to seek fame and recognition among our peers and through the conventions it promotes. Such parameters for defining our worth only end up eroding what little satisfaction in ourselves we try to desperately to hold on to and they mask any view of our value we have in our Father’s eyes. We become numb inside in order to cope with the denigrating environment we trudge through every day in this world.

The world tries to silence our voices by not acknowledging the value of our differences and our unique gifts and constitution but rather tries to force us to abide by its rules and play its political games. We must be true to who we are and see our value through our Father’s eyes. Being famous in God’s eyes brings the brightest light possible in our lives. No human recognition could ever rival the un-surpassable honor bestowed on us by God. What greater light could be found to light up our names in the heavens than the love and acknowledgment of our Maker.

Being members on God’s great stage of life is more rewarding and of far more lasting importance, for he adores us greater than any degree the world could ever attempt to provide and we need nothing more than that to make us the most precious eternal celebrities this world will ever know. The shallow, fleeting, and inconsistent recognition of the world means nothing in comparison to the brightness of God’s everlasting adoration of his children.

Don’t care if no one cares about who you are; don’t let your insecurities dictate how you see yourself…your famous in your Father’s eyes! What more do you need? What more could there be? The point is you have it all already. Why look anywhere else for validation when you have the greatest fame anyone could ever have?

1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Psalm 139:17-18 ESV
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.
