~ Lyrics ~
Bring your tired, Bring your shame
Bring your guilt, Bring your pain
Don’t you know that’s not you’re name
You will always be much more to me

Every day I wrestle with the voices
That keep telling me I’m not right
But that’s alright

‘Cause I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
When others say I’ll never be enough
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world
In the world
In the world
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world

Bring your doubts, Bring your fears
Bring your hurt, Bring your tears
There’ll be no condemnation here
You are holy, righteous and redeemed

Every time I fall
There’ll be those who will call me
A mistake
Well that’s ok

There’ll be days I lose the battle
Grace says that it doesn’t matter
‘Cause the cross already won the war
He’s Greater
He’s Greater

I am learning to run freely
Understanding just how He sees me
And it makes me love Him more and more
He’s Greater
He’s Greater

We live in a world where everyone is pressured to be better and better and to always strive to be more beautiful, talented, and intelligent than everyone else. Wanting to be better is not wrong but making it the greatest object of our desire produces in us a sense of inadequacy, a sense of never measuring up to what others expect of us, a sense of being less than what we actually are. If we are never satisfied or truly appreciate who God has created us to be, we will never be happy with ourselves. I think this song calls out for us to remember that we have been made adequate in all regards because of Christ and that whatever the world says we need to be, the One who lives in us is greater than all, and he has made us to be the best in the only way that matters.

The voice of the world says you are not right, that you need to be more, that you need to be like this or that…that you need to be like us. We hear it every day through every channel of media. If we follow their propaganda, life becomes a fight for us to out do our neighbor, to rise higher and higher and bend over backwards to become what it wants us to be. We are beaten over the head daily by the idea that we are broken and ugly and unwanted unless we match up and meet their standards, unless we give in and quite fighting the system, unless we settle for what is less than we really are.

But there is another voice calling out to us, one who does not say we will never be enough, but one who sees that everything we are was always enough. It is not that we are enough because of anything we have done but because we have been loved before anything was ever done. The pain and hurt that we feel from the condemnation from our Enemy can be overcome by the love and compassion of our Savior.

Knowing that I am called BELOVED and that I am redeemed and am more than enough to my Savior makes me love him more and more, for greater is the One living inside of me than He who is living in the world!

1 John 4:4 ESV
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
